Kelly Ripa ‘turned green’ in spray-tan fail moments before ‘Live’ taping

Kelly Ripa nearly “turned green” after applying self-tanner just moments before stepping on stage to film “Live.”

Following a warm welcome from the studio audience on Tuesday, Ripa’s co-host — and husband — Mark Consuelos complimented her “beautiful” pale pink dress.

“You guys don’t even know what happened back stage,” she replied. “I put on the dress — and I like this dress — but I look a little pale. So, I’ve got this spray-on self-tanner, no muss, no fuss. You just spray it right on and rub it in.”

However, the “All My Children” alum, 52, says that as she was “zipping back into the dress” she realized that her hands were “now green.”

“I have green hands!” Ripa exclaimed, flashing her palms at the camera.

“So, you let me know if my body starts to turn green,” she told the audience.

Despite Consuelos reassuring Ripa that she looked great, he also took the opportunity to make a quick jab at his wife.

“The tell-tale sign of spray tan is the hands. You can always tell,” he said. “But I don’t think you’re pale, I think it’s just in comparison to what you have to sit next to.”

As the crowd laughed, Ripa shot back, “How dare you mock me!”

“It’s so unfair you have such good skin,” she continued, to which he replied with a sly smile, “I know, I’m sorry.”

Toward the end of the episode, a handful of viewers gave Ripa — who thankfully had yet to “turn green” — some advice on how to remove her self-tanner.

While one person suggested she should rub half a lemon on her hands, another said her “go-to trick” is to wash her hands with shaving cream.

Meanwhile, a third person said they could tell Ripa was “getting more tan by the minute” throughout the hour-long episode.

Although she made it through the show without suffering a major beauty blunder, the longtime talkshow host has dealt with a series of wardrobe malfunctions in recent months.

A few weeks ago, the blond beauty had “a small wardrobe emergency” right before walking on stage — in the same dress she ripped the month prior.

Although Ripa was seen frantically trying to tie the front of her dress, she never divulged exactly what went down backstage.

“It was very exciting,” she teased the audience. “I almost did not walk out here!”
