New Hamptons hotspot goes up in flames ahead of its summer opening

Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons kicked off with a devastating blaze on Thursday evening.

French restaurant Maison Close’s Montauk location went up in flames the day before it was set to officially open for the summer, the restaurant’s rep confirmed to Page Six.

“We are sorry to announce that last night a fire claimed Maison Close Montauk at 435 East Lake Drive,” the rep said in a statement on Friday morning.

“The team is thankful that no one was hurt and for the assistance and bravery of the Montauk Fire Department. They are cooperating with authorities as they investigate the matter, and we do not have further updates at this time,” the statement continued.

Theilau Probost, one of the restaurant’s owners, also shared the news via Instagram, explaining, “I was the last one leaving the building. [Fifteen minutes] later I got a call telling me that Maison Close… was on fire. Few people saw what happened.”

He vowed, “This is not over. We’ll be back.”

Probost added he is “more sad about seeing [the staff’s] faces, look at their hard work going into flames, than my money or material lost.”

He later removed the post and updated it with the restaurant’s official statement on the fire.

The restaurant’s main location is in Manhattan’s upscale Soho neighborhood.

The restaurant on social media also thanked “our friends and the community for their support during this time.”

Maison Close was sure to be one of the latest hot spots in Montauk. Its Soho flagship recently hosted jeweler Jennifer Fisher’s birthday with notable guests like Savannah Guthrie, Jason Biggs, Stacey Bendet, Charlie Walk and “Real Housewives of New York City” cast member Ubah Hasan.

The East Hampton Town Fire Department confirmed the blaze on East Lake Drive to The Post but provided no additional information Friday.

Fire Chief David Browne declined to comment besides to say the fire was “still under investigation.”
